Nokia Maps 3.0 beta is now available. First thing you will notice is the new look of the basic map. Colures of the map are now better and performance improvements are easy to detect when panning & zooming the map. Zooming higher up and you will find that there is much more information available. In close zooming levels there are the new cool 3D landmarks visible in major cities. Totally new for mobile devices are the terrain maps. Check for example the Alps or any other mountain rage near you.

Walk navigation is guiding you now also in the areas where real routing is not possible. Application offers simple straight line between destination and current position and keeps updating the direction when you move. In the city areas routing is smart to direct you through parks and squares. We also have now some audio & vibration alerts during the pedestrian guidance to help you to detect when there is something happening on the screen where you should pay attention.

Car navigation a new route overview to the navigation carousel. You can see the whole route in a one look and see what is ahead of you. When driving, you can be sure that you are not speeding with the help of the speed limit warner and the lane assistance shows you suitable lanes which to take to keep in you in route.

Enable GPS on Nokia N96

Some conturies not allow mobile phones to have GPS systems, for this nokia had special frimewire version for N96 that disable internal GPS from working.

Here is how you can solve this problem and unlock your Nokia N96 GPS.

1- First go to http://www.bphreaks.co.uk/index.php?main_page=page_2 and download an application called Nemesis Service Suite Beta

2- Install the Nemesis application to your pc.

3- Use google to find a Nokia N96 product code (if your phone is arabic enabled then search for product code from the gulf area - support arabic)

4- After getting the product code , open the Nemesis suite application on your pc and connect to your mobile using USB , choose PC suite mode.

5-From Nemesis select ‘Scan for new device > Phone Info > Read’ This will give you your current product code.

6-Insert your new-found product code into the product code box, and tick enable, then write. It should only take a few seconds, and then if you click read again it will show your new product code.

7-Now update your Nokia software from the internet if you want to, open up Nokia Software Updater, make sure your phone has enough battery, and run through the updating process.

We changed the Nokia N96 product code to allow us to update our Nokia N96 software to a diffrent version that enable the GPS
